We were born out of passion ... or rather, of various passions.
Passion for cheese.
Passion for people.
Passion for Canastra.
Passion for Brazil.
It was a farm. It was supposed to be just a haven.
But how to be here and not notice these flavors,
in these hugs, in this joy?
How to be here and not notice this nature, this centuries-old knowledge,
this craftsmanship that belongs to us so much?
And the charm grew. And we studied. And we strive.
We seek all our courage to begin this new journey.
And what a journey! Quite a walk.
It reminds us of the climbs, the trails, the adventures in the mountains.
The challenges are daily.
But they are worth every dawn spent, every fall, every tear.
Hey guys!
We're young. But we've gone far. And let's go more.
We crossed the mountain, crossed the sea and went
shine there in Europe.
In the land of the best known cheeses on the planet!
We're young. We are tradition.
We're young. We are cheesemakers.
We're young. We are canastros.
We are Brazil. We are culture. We are flavor.
We are Vale da Gurita Cheese Shop.
Sustainability
Producing a sustainable coffee is part of everyday life at Fazenda Morada da Prata.
Learn more about aspects that demonstrate our commitment to sustainable coffee growing.
Sustainability isn’t a choice. It's our essence.

PRESERVATION OF NATIVE FORESTS
Fazenda Morada da Prata is proud to have 144 hectares of preserved native forest in its territory — about 31% of the entire property, and 50% above the legal requirements. The forest borders the coffee plantation and goes down to a valley, forming a large ecological corridor that protects five large springs in the region.
RAINFOREST ALLIANCE CERTIFIED
The Rainforest Alliance is one of the most respected certificates in the world when it comes to assessing sustainability in agriculture. Fazenda Morada da Prata is in the process of obtaining the certificate, currently 100% adequate and in the final audit period.
PRESERVATION OF FAUNA
With the forests preserved, the presence of large animals in the area of the farm is guaranteed. Pumas, anacondas, deer, rabbits, ocelots, and rattlesnakes are seen from time to time in the vicinity of coffee plantations.
PRIORITIZING NATURAL PROCESSING
Natural processing reduces water consumption in coffee production and avoids water contamination, thus minimizing the environmental post-harvest impact.
CROP MANAGEMENT
We act in a preventive manner according to the local Integrated Management of Pests and Diseases. Among other initiatives, we planted Brachiaria crops between the lines of the coffee plantation areas, which helps unpack the soil. Since the beginning of 2020, we have produced our organic compost and have tripled the traditional dosage, which will promote a great recovery of soil biota and greatly reduce the use of conventional fertilizers.
RESEARCH WITH NATIVE BEES
Bees are essential for the preservation of the environment. Fazenda Morada da Prata has teamed up with genetics and entomology researchers at the University of São Paulo for pioneer research about five native bee species and their relation with the coffee production.
Although the flowers of coffee plantations are self-pollinated, the presence of bees increases the transfer of pollen grain from one flower to another, generating an increase in productivity, an increase in the size and weight of grains, and a reduction of defective grains.
USE OF SOLAR ENERGY (PHOTOVOLTAIC)
In 2020, we introduced a Photovoltaic Generation Plant, which produces all the farm's energy, and a 30% surplus that is added into the local grid.
